Does anyone understand the Dreamcast's name?

Seriously, I can't understand it. Is it like fishing with a perfect cast, or is it like catching dreams I'm completely dumb founded.

Maybe "cast" is more like a movie's cast, thus all their name titles, characters, etc, are the "dream cast."

Just a theory.

Maybe no one at SEGA ever DREAMed it would be CAST away... and then the PS2 came out. I think that made just about as much since as "desturity".

sega probably knew this would be their last system. compared to the ps1 and n64, the sega saturn was jack shite. they knew they were going under, and the dream cast was their final "dream" project.

sort of like sakaguchi and square's first final fantasy game. square was going under and it was supposed to be sakaguchi's last game before he retired, therefore he named it "final fantasy," hinting at "his final fantasy." except in that case the game became so successful it became and still is square's best franchise and saved the company from the blender.
